DJ’ing with nothing more than two turntables and piles of vinyl records since 1997, Dr. Joel’s main objective has always been to “keep the party live”. Spinning and collecting records through hip hop’s Golden Era gave birth to a whole new realm of exploration and vinyl archeology as the Philadelphia-suburb native’s attention turned quickly to the source material of the genre’s great producers. What sprang up is a carefully curated record collection full of funk, soul, jazz, reggae, Latin and psychedelic rock with DJ sets that travel reverently in and out of the spaces and places set to wax by artists from all over the world. As much for the dance floor crowd as it is for the head nodders sipping a cold drink at the bar, a night with Dr Joel behind the decks is sure to please.
