Bowery is the songwriting marriage of Phill Kulas, Heather Palaszek, Joel Ferguson, Scott Hickok, and Todd VanTongeren. Beginning as an acoustic duo, featuring Kulas along with vocalist Shanee Laurent, Bowery spent their formative year cutting their teeth at open mics and coffee shops before enlisting producer/multi instrumentalist Joel Ferguson to helm sessions for their debut album “Our Love Is A Ghost”. Drummer Scott Stefanski was brought in and the duo’s acoustic set was stretched and transformed into full band productions. Over the following months, accolades poured in, and a new live band including Scott Hickok, Tyler Steimle, and Todd VanTongeren took to the stage. Following a year of live dates promoting their debut, the band began work on a followup, but sessions stalled as lineup changes surfaced. Guitarist Tyler Steimle left shortly after recording began, and while sessions inched forward, news that vocalist Shanee Laurent was expecting her first child brought them to a halt. Fast forward a full year, and the band was busy auditioning vocalists, and looking to finish the sessions they had left behind. The addition of vocalist Heather Palaszek lead to new material, new energy, and a new vision.
