We asked artist and Hope Art Professor, Billy Mayer, to curate this challenge and to help us give mailed art a twist. Delivery System was conceived.

The challenge was to make the conveyance the artwork. No packages were opened. The package is the art. It’s as simple–or as complicated–as that. Artists sent postcards, envelopes, boxes, big and small, that are gorgeous, crazy, subversive, intricate, satiric, dazzling, atmospheric. As long as the post office will took it, we accepted it!

Cash awards will be given for three awards: Mailman’s Nightmare, the “Jerry Saltz” Award for High Art, and Curator’s Choice. Awards will be given at the opening reception on Thursday, January 19 from 6 to 8 pm.
