The Saltbound is an exploration of heritage and storytelling, a blending of American and Celtic folk music in the heart of Grand Rapids, Michigan— a city known for deep roots, great beer, and love of the arts. Formed in 2012 as Cailean by singer-songwriter Colin Cooper, the Saltbound quickly grew into a rich four-piece set featuring vocalist Kaity Cooper, cellist Emily Drafta, and folk-percussionist Bill Drafta. Since releasing their “Cailean’s Wake” EP in 2014, the band has performed their unique mixture of original and traditional pieces regionally throughout West Michigan alongside a variety of acts at pubs, restaurants, cafes, and festivals. They are currently writing for a full-length release.
