On November 12, our Koffie Kletz will focus on the Danish Windmill in Elk Horn, Iowa. The story of this mill parallels the story of our Dutch windmill. Forty years ago, a small group of Danes in Iowa were able to procure the last windmill allowed to be removed from Denmark. We’ll look at the similarities and differences between the story de Zwaan and her Danish cousin.

Koffie Kletz at Windmill Island Gardens is a series of casual Saturday morning gatherings where community members learn about topics relevant to Dutch culture, Holland culture and Windmill Island Gardens. Each Kletz will feature a presentation and discussion time over coffee. These events are free to Friends of Windmill Island Gardens with a suggested donation of $5 for non-members.
