The Holland Area Arts Council is happy to present Split: Art by Michael Peoples and Tom Duimstra.
Michael Peoples is a multidisciplinary artist toying with repetition, the transformation of material and the significance of numbers, color, and subject in order to create an emotional experience. He is disciplined in molds and mold making, primarily casting in wax.
Similarly, Tom Duimstra’s work expands from a central point of minimalism to boundless texture, color and mark-making. Often working in two and three dimensional mediums, the artwork featured in Split is two dimensional, paired with the three dimensional works of Peoples. He manipulates and re-presents ubiquitous materials and discarded objects in new contexts.
The result is a reflective and contemplative attitude provoked by their works. Peoples and Duimstra are unconventionally connected at their roots. Both artists are based in West Michigan and have been featured in a number of art shows including the global art competition, ArtPrize.
Experience the color and expression of these accomplished West Michigan artists in the Armstrong Gallery from May 20 through July 16.
