From the book by Studs Terkel
Adapted by Stephen Schwartz and Nina Faso with additional contributions by Gordon Greenberg and songs by Craig Carnelia, Miki Grant, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Mary Rodgers, Susan Birkenhead, Stephen Schwartz, and James Taylor.

Nominated for six Tony Awards, Working explores the life of 26 Americans from all walks of life. This 70’s classic has been updated from the original featuring new songs by Tony Award-winning composer Lin-Manuel Miranda, as well as Stephen Schwarts, James Taylor, Craig Carnelia, Micki Grand, Mary Rodgers, and Susan Birkenhead.

Based on Studs Terkel’s best-selling book of interviews with American workers, Working paints a vivid portrait of the men and women that the world so often takes for granted and often overlooks: the schoolteacher, the parking lot attendant, the waitress, the millworker, the mason, the trucker, the fireman, the hooker, and the housewife, just to name a few. It’s a highly original look at the American landscape that is simply impossible to forget and paints a picture of people who work hard and have hard work to do.
