Ever noticed the beautiful black horses in the pasture at Windmill Island Gardens? They are Friesians – a breed native to the Netherlands with a long, distinguished history. On December 9, Janice VerMerris of the Friesian Connection will enlighten us on the history of these stately horses and how her family came to breed them in West Michigan. She’ll explain the breed’s unique nature which makes them a source of pride in the Netherlands and a frequent star in Hollywood movies! There will be plenty for history and horse-lover alike.
