Koffie Kletz: The Dutch & The Irish
Friday Mar 17 10:00am – 11:00am1 Lincoln Avenue
On Saint Patrick’s Day it seems that everyone’s a bit Irish – even the Dutch! It may seem contradictory to see the Protestant Dutch celebrating St. Patrick and the “wearin’ o’ the green.” However, the two nations have a long history that goes back hundreds of years (long before former Mayor Al McGeehan brought an Irish influence to Holland!) We invite you to learn a bit about Hiberno-Dutch relations on March 18 at 10 am before heading up to 8th Street for Holland’s St. Patrick’s Day parade at noon.
Koffie Kletz at Windmill Island Gardens is a series of casual Saturday morning gatherings where community members learn about topics relevant to Dutch culture, Holland culture and Windmill Island Gardens. Each Kletz will feature a presentation and discussion time over coffee. These events are free to Friends of Windmill Island Gardens with a suggested donation of $5 for non-members.
