Koffie Kletz: Dutch Roots - Names & Genealogy
Saturday Feb 10 10:00am – 11:00am1 Lincoln Avenue
We know West Michigan is full of Dutch names. But have you ever wondered the meaning of those vans, van ders, -gas, -mas and -stras? At the next Koffie Kletz, we’ll consider the variety and meaning of Dutch names. WE’ll also consider how the Dutch are not quite as homogenous as one might think. We’ll take a look at a few tips, tricks, and tools to trace Dutch genealogy. The Dutch kept great records and have placed many resources online so feel free to bring a tablet or laptop along to participate. Dutch or not, the conversation should lead to a better understanding of our community.
On Saturday, February 10 at 10am, discover the meaning of Dutch names & genealogy while staying warm with coffee. Please let us know you’re coming by registering at Eventbrite or calling 355-1030.
For those of you regulars, Kletzes this year are planned for February 10 and March 17. As always, Koffie Kletzes are free for Friends of Windmill Island Gardens with a suggested donation of $5 for visitors. (Friends sign-ups available at the Kletz.)
