Traditional Subjects-Photographs of Native Americans Embracing their Heritage", Thursday, February 10, 7:00-8:30 pm
Traditional Subjects is an ongoing, 30-year photo documentary of Native Americans created by James Cook. The images portray dancers, artists, elders, and other keepers of Native American traditions. Across the country, including Michigan, he worked with select individuals to create environmental portraits, typically in locations reflective of their heritage.
Jim will present a number of these images and talk about their stories, the dances, the regalia, and the art of the individual subjects.
