Idlewild’s story is a model of hope, resilience, entrepreneurship, restoration, and Black excellence juxtaposed over a landscape of Jim Crow & segregation while offering creation, vacation, recreation, vocation, gyration, & salvation. Using original songs, a pop-up museum and lecture, Grier will share his passion, over 50 years’ experience, and knowledge of this recreational & musical mecca burgeoning toward its renaissance.
Chris CJ Kingdom-Grier is born and raised in Idlewild and is a descendant of one of the first black owners, Philanthropist Robert & Margaret Riffe. His African American Memorabilia collection, which includes a sizable Idlewild portion, has been describe as Tier 1 Museum quality. Kingdom-Grier is CEO of Kingdom-Grier & Associates Diversity Equity & Inclusion Consulting Firm and is the current Yates Township/ Idlewild Historian & Archivist.
