Elizabeth J. Chivis (Whitepigeon), Eagle Clan of the Potawatomi and Chippewa nations, and a citizen of the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe, will discuss the history of their Anishinaabe families, how they embrace their resources, like gathering maple sap for syrup, and continue to follow their native cultural traditions in a contemporary world. This talk is in connection with the exhibition, “Portraits of Contemporary Native Americans by James Cook”, currently on view at the Holland Museum.
