Colorado artist Jane Jones will speak about her still life paintings featured in the special exhibition, Cultivating the Dutch Tradition in the 21st Century: Jane Jones’ Hyperrealist Floral Paintings. Inspired by the lush colors and symbols of 17th Century Dutch still life, artists like Maria Van Oosterwijck and Rachel Ruysch, as well as biology and climate change, Jones has developed a distinctive style and symbolic language of her own. The artist will share her inspirations and influences, environmental messages, and how her works connect past traditions and contemporary themes. Program attendees will be able to visit the exhibition following the talk.
